What we do

Chronicle is a public history archive in English. Search by year, month and day to discover catalogued events, or browse curious stories about people, art, science and ancient civilizations.

Led by curiosity. Grounded in history.

Every record keeps a traceable source link. Calendar entries follow their source pages, and stories combine a short introduction with more detailed historical context. Where accounts, calendars or familiar legends differ, we encourage readers to consult the original references.

Our collection has limits. An empty search means we have not catalogued an entry for that date; it does not mean that nothing happened.

Images and stories

Historical images come from open archives. They are cached locally, compressed and cropped to consistent sizes. Related background illustrations are labelled, and their creators, licences and sources appear in Sources & Credits.
